Cheltenham Examiner, Wednesday 1st August 1883 – Charge of permitting drunkeness: Charles Page, landlord of the Turf Tavern, was summoned for permitting drunkeness on his premises on July 21st. P.C. Dobbs said on Saturday night, about five to eight, he visited the Turf Tavern, Albion Street, kept by defendant. In the tap-room he found a man named Oakey very drunk, and he was abusive to witness. Supt. Day said the house was generally well conducted. Fined £2, and 11s. costs, without endorsement of licence.
The renewal of the license of the Albion Tavern was refused in June 1905. James Halliday was the licensee at the time.
