A beer house with the name the Queens Arms has been identified in Great Norwood Street by fellow pub historian Martin Edwards. He has compiled a list of licensed premises in the town in 1844.
Martin has made notes that the Queens Arms was located on the west side of Great Norwood Street.

I finally managed to locate the Queen’s Arms, Great Norwood Street, Cheltenham after getting to see the 1844 Harper’s Directory in Cheltenham Library. I think Martin Edwards was mistaken saying it was located on the west side of Great Norwood Street, because it was listed on the east side. The listing runs:
” Providence Terrace to Upper Bath street [This was the row of houses from the triangle where the Railway Inn was located to Upper Bath Street – clearly marked on the 1855-7 Old Town Survey map)
Bethesda Chapel
—— Union Street ——
16 Fryer, Charles grocer
18 Neale, Joseph schoolmaster
19 Moore Jerh. Queen’s Arms“
And it carries on down to Gratton Terrace.
I think this means that the Queen’s Arms would have been at no. 22, with just one more building before Chapel Lane.
I didn’t find the Queen’s Arms listed in any other directories.
