PACK HORSE
W Scotford Harmer in his article “Cirencester Present and Past’ (1924) said “In addition to the “Dolphin” there was another inn two doors above, which is described in the Directory of 1820 as the “Black Horse”, but is marked on the 1835 plan of the town as the “Pack Horse” which is probably correct, the sign being taken from an older Inn on the north side of the Market Place”. There is no reference to a “Pack Horse” after 1830.
