Gloucestershire CAMRA – The Tippler, No.19. July 1979: Pub News: From the beer drinker’s point of view, the prize for the most depressing pub to open in the county in recent years must go the Runciman in Cheltenham which has the nastiest line up of keg dispensers seen in town. Some people just never learn.
The building, on the corner of the Promenade and St Georges Road, originally housed the extensive showrooms of the Cheltenham Gas Light and Coke Company.
The property is now in use as a Prezzo Italian Restaurant. The building overlooks the famous Neptune’s Fountain. It has previous incarnations as the Black Tulip, Bar 1992 and Huxters Bar.
