On 17th September 1833 Robert Wilson, a beer retailer, purchased the building in Cannonbury Street from James Sainsbury for £344. The premises was said to be ‘within the borough of Berkeley about the middle part of the north side of Cannonbury Street’.
Five years later (22.9.1838) Robert Wilson had passed away and an inventory of the estate of the deceased included such items as mash tubs, casks, sieves, beer casks and cider casks.
The Rising Sun was put up for auction in 1840. The building is now a private house (27 Cannonbury Street, GL13 9BE).
