The Priory Inn opened on 28th November 2005. The £1 million Brewers Fayre restaurant was a brand new building built on the site of the old Bell & Gavel pub.
The Priory Inn was a development in the old Gloucester Cattle Market site.
In March 2003 Whitbread sold some of its Brewers Fayre pubs, including the Priory Inn, to Mitchells & Butlers Leisure Retail.
The pub / restaurant had closed by November 2020 when it was noted that the signs had been taken down. It has since reopened as a Burger Star restaurant.
