Caroline Guilford is known to have brewed beer at the Uplands Brewery, Stroud. A reference to the Uplands Brewery describes the ‘High Class Ales & Stout’. Mrs Guilford was listed as a shopkeeper and beer retailer at the Uplands Brewery between 1889 and 1902. It is possible that her name was misspelt and was actually Mrs Guildford. Unfortunately little else is known about this small brewery that catered for the off trade only. There is a house called the Maltings in Middle Street GL5 1TH
