The Parrot Inn was at 225 High Street (latterly 415). Although recorded as a pub in 1870 some eight years later the premises was occupied by John Creed, Leather and oil seller.
n the 1920’s it became a fried fish shop and by 1955 it was a fruit shop. It stood next door to the Golden Heart Inn which was also delicensed by 1896. The area is now occupied by the traffic lights of Poole Way.

Parrot Inn at no. 225 High Street – Using the 1855-7 Old Town Survey map and a modern slideable transparent overlay on Know Your Place, in 1870, 1872 this would have been located pretty much in the middle of Poole Way, just about at the traffic lights where the lanes split to go down the lower High Street to the right or up it past the car park to the left. This one didn’t last very long and by 1876 a leather & oil dealer is listed in the premises.
