The Montpellier Wine Bar and Restaurant was established in 1977.
The Citizen: Thursday, January 18th, 1990 – Plan uncorked. Work has begun on a £160,000 redevelopment of the Montpellier Wine Bar in Cheltenham to launch it into the 1990’s. The wine bar in Montpellier is expected to re-open in February with a completely new look. In addition to the main bar, the basement bistro, which seats 60, will be upgraded and a new wide-ranging menu focusing on healthy meals introduced. Said manageress Helen Crawford: “We’re definitely aiming to be Cheltenham’s number one wine bar / bistro and we’re looking forward immensely to the re-opening.” The Montpellier Wine Bar, owned by Whitbread Severn Inns, will open all day.
