Oxford Times, Saturday 19th November 1864 – To Be Let: with immediate possession, the Crown and Anchor Inn, Stow-on-the-Wold. The house and premises are roomy, and suitable for a dealer or tradesman carrying on another business. Rent moderate, and at the option of the incoming tenant about taking to any furniture. Cheltenham Examiner, Wednesday 8th February 1905 -Stow-on-the-Wold Licensing and Petty Sessions: Report of superintendent Mr G. Everiss – “I object to the renewal of the licence of the Crown and Anchor, Stow-on-the-Wold.”

Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard, Saturday 1st August 1908: Esau Scarrott, of the Crown and Anchor, Stow-on-the-Wold, was fined 2s. and 6s. costs, for permitting horses to stray.

Gloucestershire Echo, Friday 12th March 1909 – Stow Adjourned Licensing Sessions: The magistrates considered the closing of the Crown and Anchor, an alehouse, on the grounds that the licence was not required. Mr H.C. Reader (from the offices of Messrs. Wilkins and Toy, of Chipping Norton) for Messrs. Hitchman & Co, owners of the Crown and Anchor.

The Crown and Anchor was next to that of another public house [the Queens Head] There were four licensed houses within 100 yards of the Crown and Anchor which were very old premises, and seven similar houses within 200 yards. The rent paid was £16 per annum. On Stow fair days the stable accommodation at the Crown and Anchor would be for nine horses. The stables were in a bad stare of repair, but it was not on account of this that the house ws being objected to. Very little trade was done.

Gloucestershire Echo, Friday 11th February 1910 – Licensing meeting at Stow. The annual licensing meeting for the Stow-on-the-Wold Petty Sessional Division was held at Stow on Thursday. Supt. R.H. Hopkins in his annual report said that the Crown and Anchor, Stow-on-the-Wold, which had been referred to the Compensation Authority, had not yet been closed, as an appeal in respect to the amount of compensation fixed was pending.

The renewal of the licence was refused on 29th May 1909. The premises is now occupied by Glazier Art Gallery.
