The Cross Inn opened in the winter of 1996/1997 in the building that had once been the Crown Hotel. The Crown had long since closed and the premises had been empty since 1987. The refurbished Cross Inn was the brainchild of Oisin Hawes (see Village Inn) and Robert McGrath. The Cross Inn was essentially a young persons venue. A basement bar featured wide screen televisions and a sound and lighting system, which were available for use by DJ’s and live bands. The Cross was fully licensed until 2am and could cater for up to 150 persons. However, it had ceased trading by the winter of 2002. The Cross Inn was demolished in 2003 and residential flats now occupy the site.
