The City Barge opened in 1985 in the Pillar warehouse by Llanthony bridge.
On Saturday 23rd August 1986 there was a beer festival at the City Barge as part of the Gloucester Docks Folk Festival. The Albion Band and Johnny Coppin performed and the beers at the City Barge were on sale for 80 pence a pint.
