The night club and live music venue was opened in the premises that was originally the Colosseum cinema, which was later converted to a Bingo Hall. Bransons was painted in a bright orange colour.

The last gig at Bransons was held on 17th March 2001 and featured the band Queeer. Local residents did not mourn the passing of Bransons. One neighbour told the Gloucestershire Echo: “The old ladies in the almshouses have been bounced out of their beds with noise from that place. There has been vermin all over the place, pigeons and rats. I’m absolutely delighted by this news.” The building was then converted to a South African themed Sports Bar – See Springbok – which opened in October 2001. The building has since been demolished and residential flats occupy the site.

As Springbok.
