A beer house with the sign of the Star Inn has been identified by fellow pub enthusiast Martin Edwards. He has compiled a list of Cheltenham pubs that were trading in the early reign of Queen Victoria in the year 1844. The Star was at 22 Corpus Street, just off the London Road.
There was another pub in Corpus Street called the Oxford Arms, at number 5. The Oxford Arms is listed in the 1891 licensing records but there is no documentation of the Star.
Presumably both the Star and the Oxford Arms were pubs trading in their own right in Corpus Street, but not necessarily at the same time.
