The premises was first opened in 1984 and traded as Brunel’s Wine Bar. It was renamed the Windmill in 1987.

The Windmill was purchased by Marstons Brewery of Burton on Trent in 1994.

In May 1999 the Windmill was bought by Greene King, and was sold again in 2002.

In June 2006 owner Fergie Sharp organised a refurbishment of the Windmill undertaken by pub regulars and volunteers. Fergie told the ‘Citizen’: “Before I had it, (the Windmill) was a night time-disco pub. Now we’ve changed it around and it’s more of a café bar. We do food and coffees, cappuccinos and lattes.”

The Windmill is now Fever night club.
