The Three Jolly Butchers was on the immediate right hand side of the impressive market house (built in 1655) as you approach the town from Church Street. The Three Jolly Butchers ceased trading as a pub in about 1921.  Until comparatively recently the premises was the Tolsey Book Shop at 4 Church Street.
