The Ten Bells is referred to in a 1781 Register for recognisances. I have no other records and the location of the premises is not known.

Gloucester Journal: August 1786: The people of Painswick have presented a petition to the Justices of this county, setting forth the pernicious tendency of the great number of public houses, and requesting a suppression of a considerable number of these seminaries of vice. If this petition were made general through the county it would serve the views of the Chairman of the Quarter sessions, and might have a beneficial tendency.
