The 1891 Gloucestershire licensing book lists three licensed premises in Ashton under Hill. The Plough & Harrow is named. Another unnamed beer house shares the same rateable values as the White Hart. A third beer house is also listed without having a name. Despite the variances in annual rateable values it seems reasonable to assume that the second ‘no name’ licensed premises of 1891 was the Star Inn, but this has to be confirmed. I have therefore marked the 1891 entries below with an asterisk (*) to signify this.
