The Salutation Inn closed c.1974 and was sold by Whitbread for £9,000 to Doling Design who moved their offices from Carlton House in Long Street. The last landlord was Mr. Fred Varnum. It is now in private occupation and known as Salutation House. The cottage on the left of the pub used to be a shop belonging to it.
