I received an email from George Hall who told me that the Royal Oak was tenanted by his great, great grandmother, Sarah Nicholls in 1891. It was one of four agricultural labourers cottages on Toghill (now A420). The cottages have now been converted into two dwellings and there is no visible evidence that the building was once a pub. The cottages were on the Tracy Park estate which was owned by William Davy. There was previously access from Doynton up Toghill Lane but this has become overgrown and is now just a footpath.
