Although the Royal Oak was owned by Tayler’s (Cotswold Brewery) in 1891 it was leased to Clinch & Co, a rival brewery based in Witney, Oxfordshire. It seems odd that the local brewery should lease one of their pubs to another brewery but at least it may have provided some interesting ‘guest beers’ in the town.
