The Pier View Hotel was an imposing Victorian red brick building set back from the road. Overlooking Sharpness Docks and the terminus of the Sharpness / Berkeley branch railway line. The pub sign bracket had a castle emblem of West Country Breweries in the iron work.

The hotel was put up for auction in 2022 and sold and closed.
