The Orchard Pub was built by Whitbread in 1988 and was the 200th Beefeater restaurant to open. The pub had a bar on the ground floor and a restaurant upstairs. In March 2003 Whitbread sold 20% of its Beefeater chain as part of its plans to revitalise the brand.
The Orchard Pub and Restaurant traded as a Harvester Restaurant. In November 2004 permission was given for the construction of a 56 bedroom budget hotel which was built on the pubs car park.
