The actual location of the Letters Wine Vaults in Montpellier remains a mystery to me.

If anyone can provide further information, I will be most grateful.

For the record the owner of the Letters Wine Vaults in 1891 was Andrew Page and he ran the premises free from brewery tie as a free house. The annual rateable value of the ale house was a substantial £102.0s.0d. in 1891, remaining at that level in 1903. The owners in 1903 are recorded as being Liddle’s Trustees.

The occupying landlord in 1891 was Frederick George Houghton, owner of the Lansdown Inn.

Landlords:

1891 Frederick George Houghton

1903 James Cotton
