The Dog and Gun is a long lost Donnington Brewery pub. Chandos Street is located just off North Street. It is possible (but not yet confirmed) that the Dog & Gun is now a private house.

The Dog & Gun Inn was described as ‘dilapidated’ in a contemporary reference.

Cheltenham Chronicle, Saturday 27th February 1926 – Winchcombe Licensing Sessions: The police were instructed to give notice of objection to the license of the Dog and Gun beerhouse, Winchcombe, on the grounds of redunancy and was not required for the needs of the community. Mr E.C. Fortesque (Banbury) appeared for the owner (Mr H.J. Arkell, Donnington Brewery) and for the licensee (Norman Knowles). It was decided to refer the house for compensation.

Cheltenham Chronicle, Saturday 18th February 1928: On the 20th April 1927, the Dog and Gun Inn, Winchcombe, and the Crown Inn, Gretton, were closed by the County Licensing Committee, and compensation paid.

On the junction of North Street and Chandos Street is this building – ‘North Street Brewery’ is in faded writing on the wall. Could this have been the Dog & Gun?
