Gloucester Journal: 1870. Denmark Arms, London Road – William McKee applied for a renewal of a beer licence – The police stated that there was a complaint about the house. It was open on the previous evening at half-past twelve o’clock – Mr McKee said he had a gentleman lodging in his house, who invited several friends to spend the evening. He denied that any beer was drawn after eleven o’clock. The Chairman said he could answer for the respectability of Mr McKee, and expressed a hope that he did not keep his house open after hours.
