There is a reference to the Crown in 1716. In his will of 2nd March 1742/3 John Andrews left the Crown Inn and four other properties in Wickwar to his son Thomas Andrews and his son in law Edward Rice with instructions to sell them ‘with all convenient speed after my demise.’
