The Clock Tower was opened at 6 o’clock on Friday 11th July 1986 by Banks’s Brewery of Wolverhampton. It was Banks’s first pub in Cheltenham. It was built around the stable block of the Lillybrook Hotel.

The pub takes its name from the clock tower of the old stable block, which now proudly houses a Banks’s clock. In 2003 the Clock Tower still had a pool table and a darts board.

It underwent extensive refurbishment in 2004 and re-opened on Monday 22nd November. The Banks’s signs were removed – the company is now known as Marstons plc.
