Chambers, on the corner of Market Parade, opened on Tuesday 21st September 1999. It was built on the site of the old Pearce Pope offices (Kings House) which were known as St Aldate’s Chambers.

The Chambers was one of Scottish & Newcastle Breweries John Barras pubs and showed sporting events on large screen televisions. In 2005 it was noted as being part of the Spirit Group.

Note the extensive landscaping and re-modelling of Kings Square.

Chambers is currently closed and boarded up, this area of Gloucester as part of the Kings Quarter is undergoing significant investment and rejuvenation.

The Citizen, Thursday 14th December 2023 – Pub goes on market as part of area’s fresh look: A pub is on the market with hopes a food and drink operator will take over and be part of a major city centre regeneration project. The Chambers pub in Kings Square closed during the early days of the pandemic and has never reopened.

Gloucester City Council is set to advertise the prime site on a leasehold basis and is seeking businesses that can enhance the vision for the recently revamped area. It is hoped that a new occupier will be able to make the site a destination for both daytime and evening activity and create a cafe culture perhaps promoting the region’s talented food and drink producers.
