C.B. Tanner & Son were brewing beer at the Brewers Arms in 1856, according to an 1856 Directory where the business is listed as a brewery. There is no mention of a Brewers Arms in the 1891 licensing book. It is known that a private residence called Hillside Cottage at 126 Thrupp Lane was once a brewery – was this once the Brewers Arms? Hillside Cottage was built c1599.
