Bird in Hand is an isolated hamlet to the north of Whiteshill on the road to Edge. It is marked on the Ordnance Survey Map at SO 839082. There is a property called Bird in Hand Cottage – perhaps this was once the licensed premises. Bird in Hand is on an elevated position with far reaching views over the hills and surrounding villages.

The licence of the Bird in Hand was refused by Stroud Magistrates in September 1869.
