Stroud News, 13th January 1883 – Stroud Court: William Durn was charged with being drunk and refusing to quit the Bell Inn, Whiteshill. The Landlord, William Price, said that on Sunday evening last, William Durn came in drunk and using bad language. Witness told him to leave the house and he refused. He stayed about ten minutes and then went out. Defendant’s wife appeared, and stated that she went to the Bell Inn for her husband. She stayed there with him for a time till, after having more beer, he “got stupid”, and was ordered out. Fined five shillings.

Gloucester Citizen, Friday 8th March 1935 – Licenses referred at Stroud: On the grounds of redundancy the Bell Inn, Whiteshill, was referred for compensation at the adjourned annual Brewster Sessions at Stroud, today. Supt. Hallett said the licensee of the Bell Inn was Walter Charles Beard, who had held the licence since March 1916, without conviction. The population to each licensed licensed house was 172. There were three other houses within 440 yards, and four others within one mile. The licensee of the Bell Inn, nor the owners, the Stroud Brewery Company, offered any objection to closure.
Gloucester Citizen, Friday 3rd June 1949 – Former Whiteshill Licensee Dies: The death has occurred after a short illness of Mr Walter Beard, of 1 Southleigh, Whiteshill, near Stroud at the age of 62. A native of the district, Mr Beard was formerly the licensee of the old Bell Inn, Whiteshill, succeeding his mother who held the licence for many years. When the inn was closed, Mr Beard became a gardener. He is survived by his wife and one son.
