The Citizen: Wednesday September 14th 1983 – Pub go-ahead: Plans for a new pub for the Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries at Quedgeley, were passed yesterday by the Stroud District Council Planning Executive Sub-Committee.

The Basket Maker opened on Thursday 9th May 1985. The Basket Maker was the first outlet for Banks’s Brewery of Wolverhampton in Gloucestershire. It was built from old bricks rescued from the Gloucester Infirmary in Southgate Street. The pub had a half million pound refurbishment in 2001. Externally the old bricks were painted over and the two bars were merged into one.

It re-opened as the Weavers Arms on 5th December 2001. It is owned by Marstons and now trades as the Haywain.
