Bar Riga opened in the premises that was previously JoJo’s club in November 2005. JoJo’s club closed in May 2002 by the order of magistrates after police claimed it was a “powder keg for disaster.” Three years later the building was dilapidated and scaffolding was attached to the outside walls. Bar Riga nightspot was the third to open in Stroud. One of the owners of the club originated from Latvia of which the capital city is Riga. Radio 1 DJ’s Spoony and Judge Jules entertained clubbers at Bar Riga in 2006. In May 2008 the venue re-opened as Junction 13 (presumably after the Stroudwater M5 junction 13).
