The Turmut Hoer was built in 1994 by Bass Taverns. The name is from a poem by Ivor Gurney.

During the Great Gloucestershire Floods of July 20th 2007 the Turmut Hoer was damagedĀ  by flash-flooding and remained closed until the end of August.


Gloucester Citizen, Thursday 8th February 2024 – Pub reopens with a new look after major revamp: A popular pub in Gloucester has reopened after being shut for three weeks for a major refurbishment. The Turmut Hoer has taken advantage of the quieter post-Christmas period to undergo a complete transformation. The pub in Mead Road, Abbeymead, now has a brighter look which is described as being brighter and modern. The aim is to give the pub a new lease of life for 2024 and beyond. There is a refreshed bar area, new soft furnishings and an enhanced dining area. It is hoped it will provide guests with a relaxed, welcoming environment to enjoy their visit.
